FAQs

What if coaching/personal training doesn't fit my budget?

When I was growing up, I didn't have access to good coaching. That lead me to overwork, underperform, and develop injury patterns that I still battle to this day. Offering high-quality guidance to athletes who otherwise don't have access is my single most significant motivating factor in my role as a coach, so I am open to offering services at discounted prices on a case-by-case basis, especially for students. Aditionally, it is worth noting that insurance may conver personal training in some cases, so talk to your provider about the possibility of covering part or all of your training. It never hurts to ask, so if money is your limiting factor, let me know and we can figure out what works for you.

I've never run before, is this the right place for me?

Yes. Folks that are new to exercise are some of my favorite people to work with. When I was first starting, it took some time to find a safe place where I didn't feel stigmatized or embarrassed, so if you have any concerns about that side of things, please know that I've been there too and want to help. We all start somewhere, and I'm happy to meet you where you are to begin your fitness journey.

My goals are non-traditional, can we still work together?

Absolutely. I build every training plan that I write from the ground-up based on you and your goals, regardless of how out-there they may seem. If you're like me and like to be in on the process, then you're welcome to play as big of a role as you'd like in crafting your training plan. There's no need to do extra work though, and I'm happy to take care of all of the planning behind the scenes if that's more your style!

Is running as hard as everyone tells me it is?

Not if you do it right. While the mentality of "no pain, no gain" can lead to gains in some areas of training, the benefits of "training smarter, not harder" are much more pronounced. Training is most effective when performed consistently, and endurance training requires that the majority of training sessions be "light" effort, lest we risk injury. When done right, it should be a level of challenging that is rewarding but doesn't kill you.  I believe that habit-building is essential to success, especially if you are doing something new, so rest assured that I will not drive you away with training that you aren't ready to handle.

I already know what I'm doing, why do I need a coach/personal trainer?

Accountability, a second opinion, an easy way to stay up-to-date on the latest research - these are just a few of the benefits of partnering with a personal trainer. Even the world's best athletes have coaches, and having that extra level of support only becomes more important as you build your fitness and ability. I'd love to have a discussion regarding your thoughts and hesitations about hiring a coach.  Feel free to shoot me an email or text:
